More about FUCHS ( History / Goals )

1. The location / the roots:

FUCHS SCHRAUBENWERK is located in the city of SIEGEN (South Westphalia), in the heart of Germany.

The area of Siegen, the SIEGERLAND, is one of the oldest industrial regions of Central Europe. Iron ore mining, its smelting and subsequent processing of iron and steel, determined through many centuries the economic life of the region of Siegen.

The roots of the present firm FUCHS SCHRAUBENWERK also goes back to the early 19th century. The family began in 1810,
aside from farming, agriculture and trade, with the processing of iron in one of the oldest known hammer mills of Siegerland, the
HAARDTER HAMMER.

A foundry and - around the middle of the 19th century - a puddling works and a steel rolling mill was added, carrying already the name of  FUCHS + CO, situated only a few hundred yards away from the present production site.
The effects of a spectacular bank crash in Siegen lead in 1894 to a total loss of all industrial activities.

Already in 1909, with the participation of the whole family, the firm FUCHS + CO was reestablished as a bolt and nut manufacturing company. Hot forged and since 1911 cold forged fasteners were supplied mainly for railway, shipbuilding and construction firms.

2. The Company Today

Although many things have changed since then, FUCHS SCHRAUBENWERK remained a family owned business. Some customer relationships have existed since more than 70 years.

The monthly supplied tonnage totals to ca. 1000 tons and is composed of a wide spectrum of sophisticated products and corresponding services. We employ about 200 people on two locations in town.

An active and constant participation in RESEARCH-AND-DEVELOPMENT projects in all areas of modern steel forming adds permanently to the high degree of manufacturing know how.

The product mix of cold formed special parts, hot forged parts, specialty fasteners and standard fasteners avoids one-sided dependence and is used by customers in

  • the chemical and chemical apparatus industry,

  •  the construction and steel construction industry,

  • the electrical and electrical appliances industry and

  • the automotive industry

3. The Goals

A comprehensive and rigid QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM represents the responsibilities for

  • the products manufactured,
  • the common environment,
  • the people employed,
  • the profitability of the company

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION  is the key word for the continued success of  FUCHS SCHRAUBENWERK.
